How to Get to Jizu Shan #
Jizu Shan (Mount Jizu) is in Binchuan County, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan. From Dali city take an intercity bus or hire a taxi toward Binchuan (buses depart Dali Old Town/bus station); from Binchuan county seat take a short local taxi or minibus to the Jizu Shan scenic area - the last road access is by car or local shuttle and the drive from central Dali is on the order of tens of kilometres (expect around a one-hour road transfer).
Tips for Visiting Jizu Shan #
- Visit early in the morning on a weekday and outside Chinese national holidays to avoid tour groups and to catch the mountain's misty Buddhist atmosphere before visibility declines later in the day.
- Start at the official scenic-area ticket/visitor center so you can pick up a map and see the main temple clusters first; that helps you orient and plan any uphill walks to quieter spots.
- Don't stop at the lower temple complexes-follow the marked higher trails beyond the main attractions for forested paths and less-crowded viewpoints that many visitors miss.
- Check the local weather in the rainy season (roughly May-October) and aim for clear mornings; afternoon showers are common and reduce visibility.
