Japanese Tea Garden (San Francisco)

The Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco is a historic public Japanese-style garden in Golden Gate Park, established in 1894 and developed by the Hagiwara family. It is widely considered the oldest public Japanese garden in the United States.

The garden contains traditional Japanese landscaping elements and built features, including ponds with koi, stone lanterns, stepping stones, a curved wooden drum bridge, and a small tea house where light refreshments are sold.
