János-hegy (János Hill) is the highest hill within Budapest, reaching roughly 527 metres above sea level and forming part of the Buda Hills. The hill is a well-known local recreation area with built viewpoints.
The lookout tower on János-hegy was constructed in the early 20th century and the hill has since been used as a public recreational area. Over time paths and visitor facilities were added to support tourism and local leisure use.
Located in the western Buda area of Budapest within the hilly Buda Hills, the site is easily reached from central Budapest by public transport and local roads and sits above the residential districts of Újlak and Zugliget.
