West Coast - Negril, Montego Bay and Lucea

Spring brings warming afternoons and the air starts to feel stickier; Negril still enjoys long beach days but showers begin to appear more often toward the end of March. Boat and snorkeling operators run regular trips to coral reefs off Montego Bay; visibility is generally good but can be reduced after isolated downpours. Pack reef-safe sunscreen and be prepared for afternoon cloud buildups.

North Coast - Ocho Rios, St. Ann and Discovery Bay

March offers steadily warming temperatures and the chance of an occasional short shower, but most days suit beach and river activities. Ocho Rios’ harbor vibrates with energy as small-boat trips and river rafting on the White River run frequently. Pack light clothing and sturdy shoes for cliff-top and waterfall routes where surfaces can be slick from spray.

East Coast & Portland Parish - Port Antonio, Blue Lagoon and Reach Falls

March sees increasing warmth and humidity while showers remain sporadic; boatmen run consistent trips to the Blue Lagoon and out to coastal fishing spots. Rainy periods are usually short, so hiking into the John Crow or along coastal trails is still reliable. Pack quick-dry clothing and a waterproof cover for camera gear when visiting waterfalls.

Kingston & Southeast Coast - Kingston, Port Royal and Hellshire

March warms up noticeably and the sun gets stronger; afternoons can be hot but sea breezes along the coast temper the city. This is a good window for visiting street-food spots in the Kingston Corporate Area-expect crowds on weekends. If you plan to drive to Port Royal or Hellshire for seafood and sunsets, set out in the morning to avoid city congestion.

South Coast & Central South - Treasure Beach, Black River and St. Elizabeth

March brings increased heat but still more moderate humidity than the north coast; Treasure Beach’s fishing community atmosphere is lively as locals prepare for the busier season. Water activities like kayaking and shore snorkeling run reliably in the mornings. Reserve guesthouses early for late March weekends and bring reef shoes for rocky shoreline areas.

Blue Mountains & Interior Highlands

March warms slightly but stays substantially cooler than the coast; clear days give the best visibility, making coffee-farm tours and ridge walks especially rewarding. Afternoon sun can be surprising at elevation, so sun protection and layered clothing are essential. Nights and higher elevations are chilly-bring a warm hat and gloves for summit attempts.
