How to Get to Izola#
Izola on Slovenia’s coast is most conveniently reached via Trieste (TRS) or Ljubljana (LJU) with onward buses from Trieste/Koper. Coastal bus services are the primary public-transport option for getting to and around Izola.
Trieste - Friuli Venezia Giulia (TRS): Trieste Airport is the closest international airport. From Trieste city take regional buses or trains toward Koper and then a short bus/taxi to Izola; total travel time to Izola is about 40-60 minutes by road.
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik (LJU): Ljubljana airport connects to the capital by shuttle/bus; from Ljubljana take a direct bus to Izola or to Koper and change - overall journey 1.5-2 hours depending on service.
Train: Izola does not have a passenger rail station. The nearest rail services are limited in Koper or further inland (Divača); trains are less useful for last-mile travel on the coast.
Bus: Intercity buses connect Izola with Koper, Portorož and Trieste. The Izola bus station (Avtobusna postaja Izola) is centrally located; coastal services are frequent in summer and modestly priced year-round.
