Israel Defense Forces History Museum

The Israel Defense Forces History Museum is a military history museum located at Latrun, in the greater Tel Aviv-Jerusalem corridor, dedicated to the history, operations and equipment of the Israel Defense Forces. The site combines indoor exhibition halls with a large outdoor collection of armoured vehicles and artillery.

Highlights include an extensive open-air display of tanks and armoured vehicles from different periods, museum exhibitions that present documents, uniforms and campaign narratives, and a memorial plaza used for remembrance events. The layout is designed to trace technological and organisational changes in the IDF from its founding to the present.

The museum grew from post-1948 efforts to preserve military equipment and to document Israel’s armed forces; over time it expanded its collection and exhibit programme to cover major conflicts and branches of service.

It is sited at Latrun, roughly midway on the main route between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and is accessible by road from both urban centres.
