Isola Madre is the largest of the Borromean Islands on Lake Maggiore in Piedmont, Italy, and is known for its palazzo and extensive historic botanical gardens. The island is managed by the Borromeo family and is open to visitors for guided walks around the palace and gardened terraces.

Garden features include rare and subtropical plantings laid out across stepped terraces, formal paths and woodland areas; the grounds are notable for their size and for ornamental birds such as peacocks. Stresa is reachable by regional train from Milan (trains run from Milano Cadorna/Milano Centrale to Stresa) or by car: driving from Milan to Stresa is about 90 km via the A8/A26 motorways. The Stresa ferry terminal is a very short walk from the town center.
