Isla del Caño

Isla del Caño is an island and protected biological reserve off the coast of the Osa Peninsula in Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica, noted for its marine biodiversity and coral reefs. The island and surrounding waters are managed to conserve terrestrial and marine ecosystems and are a recognized site for recreational diving and scientific study.

Snorkeling and scuba diving are primary visitor activities; the reefs host corals, fish and other marine life that attract divers from the mainland. The island also contains archaeological evidence of pre-Columbian occupation, and limited guided visits include informational context about those finds.
