How to Get to Ishkoshim Range #
Ishkoshim district is reached from Khorugh (regional capital of Gorno-Badakhshan) by road; Khorugh itself requires a long overland trip from Dushanbe (often two days) or a domestic flight when available. Local 4x4 transport and guides are recommended.
Tips for Visiting Ishkoshim Range #
- Hire a local Pamiri guide who knows safe passes; terrain is remote and weather can change rapidly.
- Plan for altitude acclimatization; many access points are already above 2,000-3,000 m.
- Travel light and expect basic infrastructure - fuel, food and communications are limited in Gorno-Badakhshan.
