About Isbjerget
Completed in 2013, Isbjerget sits in the Aarhus Docklands neighbourhood on Mariane Thomsens Gade, right by the water. It is best known for its sculptural, jagged form that evokes drifting ice, which has made it a modern landmark in the redeveloped harbour area.
The project was designed collaboratively by four architectural firms: Denmark’s CEBRA and JDS Architects, France’s Louis Paillard, and the Netherlands’ SeARCH. It was funded by the Danish pension fund PensionDanmark, reflecting the area’s mix of housing-led regeneration and contemporary design ambition.
As a residential complex, it is primarily something to appreciate from the outside and as part of a walk around the waterfront and docklands, where new buildings and harbour vistas define the character of the district.
