Inderkilla National Park National Park

Inderkilla National Park is a protected area in Himachal Pradesh in the western Himalaya that conserves montane forests and high-altitude ecosystems. The park encompasses steep valleys and forested slopes typical of the Kullu-Manali region.

It was created to protect regional biodiversity, including conifer and broadleaf forests and the wildlife those habitats support, and it is used for regulated trekking and nature observation. Local management balances conservation objectives with controlled visitor access and community use of buffer areas.

The park lies within Himachal Pradesh’s mountainous terrain and is accessed from nearby towns in the Kullu-Manali area; roads and mountain tracks lead to trailheads and viewpoint locations.

• Habitat protection: Protects montane forest and alpine habitats in the western Himalaya and is managed for biodiversity including Himalayan mammals and high-altitude flora.

• Aim for spring through early autumn (roughly April-October) for the best trail conditions and birdwatching; the monsoon season can make access roads and trails unreliable.
• Hire a local Forest Department guide from the nearest town - guides increase the chance of seeing pheasants and other Himalayan birds and will know current trail and wildlife conditions.
• Plan travel during daylight and check local road and weather reports beforehand - some access roads in Himachal Pradesh are narrow and subject to landslides or seasonal closures.
