İmralı

İmralı is a small island in the Sea of Marmara, administratively part of Bursa Province in Turkey, known primarily for its government-operated prison facility. The island has been used by the state as a high-security detention site in the 20th and 21st centuries.

There are no tourist amenities or public visitor programs on the island; the main feature is the prison compound and associated infrastructure that occupy much of the land area. The facility is heavily restricted and monitored, with maritime access controlled by authorities.

İmralı sits in the Sea of Marmara, south of the Turkish mainland and within the inland sea that separates the Marmara and Aegean regions; it is part of the archipelago of small islands scattered in the Marmara and lies to the south of the Marmara coastline.
