Imperial Castle, Poznań Monument

The Imperial Castle in Poznań (Zamek Cesarski) is a red-brick early 20th-century building constructed for the German emperor and now repurposed as a cultural centre. It is a prominent landmark on the western edge of Poznań’s historic core.

• Enter from the western side near al. Marcinkowskiego to avoid the small, less-signposted service entrances used by conference guests.
• Look for the traces of original glass mosaics and ceramic tiles inside - many are behind later restorations and easy to miss.
• Time a visit to coincide with a cultural event; the castle hosts concerts and exhibitions that reveal rooms otherwise closed to casual visitors.
