The museum is a 15-20 minute walk north from Poznań Główny train station. Tram lines 6, 7 and 15 stop near plac Wolności; the museum is on Aleje Marcinkowskiego, beside the Collegium Maius. From the Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) it’s an easy 10-15 minute walk.

• Enter through the main building on Aleje Marcinkowskiego and start with the Polish 19th-20th century galleries - the circulation keeps crowds light later in the afternoon.
• On Thursdays the museum often stays open later; use that hour to see the temporary exhibitions when day-trippers have gone.
• Don't skip the small archaeology cabinets in the basement - the wear on the display labels shows what scholars still fight over.
