Impalila

Impalila is an island at the eastern tip of Namibia’s Zambezi Region, located where the Zambezi River meets channels leading toward the Chobe and the borders with Zambia and Botswana.

The island hosts small settlements and a functioning airstrip used for light aircraft; it also serves as a local river crossing and staging point for visits into nearby parks and cross-border areas.

Its location at the river junction has made Impalila a practical point for river transport and cross-border movement in the region.

It sits at the Namibian extremity of the Zambezi corridor, off the mainland of the Zambezi Region and adjacent to the tri-border area near the junction with Zambia and Botswana.
