- Start hikes from established access roads (for example the Medeu-Shymbulak road or the Big Almaty Lake access) where marked trails and parking are provided; these are the usual gateways used by local guides and park staff.
- Plan visits outside mid‑afternoon in summer-mountain areas in the Alatau commonly develop quick convective storms later in the day, so mornings give more stable weather for vistas and photography.
