Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU): The main international entry point for Idrija; from LJU you continue by road (bus or car) to reach Idrija. Airport transfers to Ljubljana take 25-40 minutes, and onward bus journeys to Idrija take roughly 90-120 minutes depending on route.
Trieste / Venice (TRS/VCE): For some travellers from Italy, regional flights or drives into the Slovenian/Italian border area are an option-drive times vary and cross-border public transport can add complexity.
Train: Idrija does not have a direct mainline railway station; the nearest regular rail services are accessed from nearby towns (e.g., Idrija area connections via Ajdovščina / Most na Soči region), so rail travel requires a bus or taxi link.
Bus: Direct intercity buses connect Ljubljana (and other regional centres) to Idrija; journeys typically take around 1.5-2 hours. Buses are the most reliable public option to reach the town centre.
