How to Get to Tolmin#
Tolmin is best reached by bus or car; it lacks direct rail on Slovenia’s main corridors, so travellers usually change to a bus at a nearby railway hub such as Most na Soči or Nova Gorica. Driving offers maximum flexibility for exploring the Soča Valley.
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU): The main international airport for Slovenia; driving time to Tolmin is about 1h40-2h (≈110-130 km). Rental car or bus from Ljubljana coach station are common onward options.
Trieste (TRS) / Venice (VCE): Trieste and Venice airports are also used by visitors; travel times to Tolmin are roughly 1-2 hours (Trieste) and 2.5-3.5 hours (Venice) by road depending on border and traffic.
Train: Tolmin does not have a major rail station on the main Slovenian lines; nearest significant stations include Most na Soči and Nova Gorica with onward bus or taxi links to Tolmin.

- Train to nearby hubs (€5-€20) - Use Slovenia’s rail network to reach Nova Gorica or Most na Soči, then switch to a bus or taxi for the final leg to Tolmin. Trains are comfortable for longer legs but not door-to-door to Tolmin.
