How to Get to Holhol

Holhol is reached overland from Djibouti City; international travellers arrive at Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport (JIB) and transfer by road. Regular domestic flights do not serve Holhol.

By Air

Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport (JIB): The primary international gateway for Djibouti. Taxis to Djibouti city centre take about 10-20 minutes and typically cost around 1,000-2,000 DJF; from there you arrange overland travel to Holhol. There are no regular scheduled flights directly to Holhol.

Note: Holhol is normally reached by road from Djibouti City; domestic air services in Djibouti are limited and not a practical option for reaching Holhol for most travellers.

By Train & Bus

Train: Djibouti has no passenger rail services connecting to Holhol.

Bus / Shared taxi: Shared minibuses and inter-town buses run between Djibouti City and regional towns including Holhol along the main RN-1 route. Departures are informal; expect a 1.5-2.5 hour trip depending on stops and road condition. Fares are modest and typically paid in Djibouti francs at departure.
