The area features dramatic limestone cliffs and isolated rauk pillars along the shoreline, with the most famous formation locally called Hoburgsgubben. The headland and nearby coastal reserve are popular for walking, birdwatching and coastal geology viewing.
Hoburgen’s features are the result of long-term marine erosion on Gotland’s limestone bedrock; the formations have been noted in local accounts and mapped as part of Gotland’s coastal landscape for centuries.
