The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum documents the atomic bombing of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and its aftermath, using artifacts, photographs and personal testimonies to promote peace and nuclear disarmament. It is located within the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park in central Hiroshima.

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is in Peace Memorial Park beside the Atomic Bomb Dome in central Hiroshima. From Hiroshima Station take the Hiroshima Electric Railway (Hiroden) tram to the Genbaku Dome-mae (Atomic Bomb Dome) stop-tram lines 1, 2 and 6 serve the stop-and the museum is a very short walk (a couple of minutes) from the tram stop. If arriving by bus, many city buses stop near the Peace Park; the park is also an easy walk from central stops around Hondori and the Bus Center.

• Arrive right at opening on weekdays to avoid school groups and large tour buses that typically arrive mid‑morning; early visits also give quieter time for personal reflection in the exhibits.
• Allow at least 1.5-2 hours to work through the permanent exhibition - many visitors rush the testimonies and artifact displays, which are where much of the museum's contextual material resides.
• After the museum, cross the river to view the Atomic Bomb Dome from across the Motoyasu River and use the park pathways for quieter photo angles and reflective space away from the museum entrance.
