Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah

The Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah is the shrine complex built around the tomb of the 14th-century Sufi saint Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi. It functions as both a pilgrimage site and an active center for Sufi devotional practices.

The complex includes the saint’s tomb, the nearby grave of the poet and musician Amir Khusro, and adjoining prayer halls and courtyards where devotees gather. The site is particularly noted for its regular qawwali music sessions, most famously on Thursday evenings, which attract both local devotees and tourists.

The dargah developed and expanded over centuries, accumulating monuments and endowments during the Delhi Sultanate and Mughal eras as well as later periods, resulting in a mix of architectural elements. Geographically the shrine sits in the Nizamuddin neighborhood within the National Capital Territory of Delhi, a short distance from other historic monuments such as Humayun’s Tomb.
