Hatay Archaeology Museum

Hatay Archaeology Museum is located in Antakya (modern Antakya, formerly Antioch) in southern Turkey and is noted for its extensive collection of mosaics and artefacts from nearby ancient sites. The museum houses finds from Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods recovered in the Hatay region.

The displays include large in situ and transported mosaic pavements, sculptural fragments and funerary pieces that illustrate urban life and religious practice in antiquity. The collection is among the region’s most important archaeological repositories for material from ancient Antioch and surrounding settlements.

Established in the 20th century to preserve and present local archaeological finds, the museum’s holdings reflect excavations and surface finds from multiple sites in Hatay Province and have been assembled through both formal excavations and rescue archaeology.

• Sarcophagus and sculpture galleries: Collections of funerary sculpture, sarcophagi and architectural fragments from nearby Roman and late antique settlements, with many objects excavated in the 20th century.
