Hat Lamai
Historical Site Popular Koh Samui beach known for nightlife
Lamai Beach on Koh Samui pairs a broad sandy bay with seafood eateries, bars and day‑trip boat departures; swimmers, rock‑formation sightseers and evening crowds come for food, nightlife and beach activity.
Hat Lamai is the sandy shoreline that serves the town of Lamai on the southeast coast of Koh Samui, Surat Thani Province, Thailand. It is one of the island’s principal resort beaches and forms the seaside edge of the town.
A continuous beachfront runs along the town with hotels, restaurants and small commercial streets immediately inland. The beach is used for swimming, sunbathing and shoreline dining; local services and shops are concentrated along the main road behind the sand.
The area developed from a traditional coastal settlement into a tourist centre in the late 20th century, with accommodation and amenities added progressively. Today the beach functions as the focal point for Lamai’s visitor infrastructure.
The beach sits on Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand, on the island’s southeastern shore. The island’s main airport and ferry connections serve visitors bound for Lamai.
- Location note: Located on the southeast coast of Koh Samui, the beach fronts the town of Lamai and its resort strip.
- Best time to visit: Best months for calm sea and lower rainfall are the island dry season, roughly November to April.
