Hassan II Mosque is a major religious landmark in Casablanca, Morocco, notable for its large scale and seafront location; its minaret reaches 210 metres. It is one of the largest mosques in the country and was completed in the early 1990s.
The complex includes an expansive prayer hall finished with traditional Moroccan materials and craftsmanship, large exterior courtyards and a minaret that serves as a navigational landmark along the Atlantic coast. Parts of the mosque are built out over the ocean with design features intended to reference both modern engineering and traditional forms.
The mosque was commissioned by King Hassan II and constructed with Moroccan artisanship, modern building techniques and extensive funding and labour to create a national monument and active place of worship. Since completion it has been a focal point for religious services and a visitor attraction for its architecture.
The mosque sits on the Corniche at the edge of Casablanca, projecting onto the Atlantic shoreline and visible from roads and viewpoints along the seafront.

How to Get to Hassan II Mosque #
Hassan II Mosque is on Casablanca’s Atlantic seafront (the Corniche). From central Casablanca (Casa-Port or Casa-Voyageurs stations) it’s a short taxi ride of about 10-20 minutes or a 20-30 minute walk along the seafront.
From Mohammed V Airport the mosque is approximately 30 km from the airport; taxis and airport transfers are the usual options. The mosque is a well‑signposted landmark on the coast and has visitor entrances for guided tours.

- Book one of the mosque's guided tours ahead of your visit-the Hassan II Mosque is one of the few in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors and tours run at set times, so checking the schedule avoids disappointment.
- Allow time to admire the exterior seafront setting and the minaret's laser beam that is aligned toward Mecca; the esplanade and terraces give the best photographic perspectives of the mosque against the Atlantic.
- Combine your visit with a short walk along the Corniche to see the mosque from different angles at sunrise or sunset when the sea light complements the building's detailing.
