Hamura is a city in the western part of Tokyo Metropolis, Japan, located along the Tama River. It functions primarily as a residential and suburban community within the Tokyo commuter area.
The area is best known for riverside green spaces and local neighbourhood shrines and temples rather than major tourist attractions. There are walking paths and parks along the Tama River and small local festivals that reflect the citys community life.
Hamura developed as part of greater Tokyos suburban expansion during the 20th century and saw increasing residential growth after World War II. Local facilities and infrastructure expanded to serve commuters to central Tokyo.
The city sits in western Tokyo, on the banks of the Tama River, with central Tokyo to the east. It is part of the urban and suburban belt that surrounds central Tokyo and is accessible by rail from the metropolitan area.

How to Get to Hamura, Tokyo #
Hamura is served by JR East’s Ōme Line; the town’s Hamura Station is on that line. From central Tokyo take the Chūō Line to Tachikawa and change onto the Ōme Line toward Hamura - the station is a short walk into Hamura city centre. By car Hamura lies to the west of central Tokyo (roughly 30-40 km depending on start point).
