Northern Coast & Cap-Haïtien (Nord and Nord-Est)
Mornings in February feel similar to January - bright, clear and breathable - making this a popular month for visitors to Milot and the museum at Sans-Souci. Carnaval season in parts of the north can bring local festivities; book ahead if you plan to time visits to cultural events in Cap-Haïtien or the Petion-Ville carnival alternatives. Rain is uncommon, so terraces and beachfront cafés are comfortable midday.
Port-au-Prince & Central Plateau (Ouest and Plaine du Cul-de-Sac)
February continues the dry, comfortable spell and many travelers time cultural events and Carnaval-related activities near the capital. Daytime temperatures are warm but bearable thanks to trade winds; mornings are ideal for market runs to Croix-des-Bouquets’ metal-art workshops. Heavy rainfall is unlikely, so urban travel is simpler though car traffic remains a constant; bring sun protection for rooftop cafés and afternoon sun.
Artibonite Valley & Gonaïves (rice plains and floodplain)
February keeps dry, hot days across the valley with cooling breezes in the mornings - a good time for rural photography and market visits. Gonaïves itself prepares for Carnival and local festivals, so book locally if you want to experience those events. Streams are low and irrigation channels are visible; avoid low-lying roads that can still hold late puddles after rare showers.
Southern Peninsula & Jacmel (Tiburon Peninsula and Île-à-Vache)
February is lively in Jacmel where arts festivals and carnival-style celebrations can draw local crowds; the weather is reliably warm and suitable for walking the town’s painted streets. The coastal surf is pleasant and beaches are busy but not crowded compared with international resorts. Pack sun protection and expect lively festival nights with outdoor music and food stalls.
Highlands & Mountain Ranges (Massif de la Selle, Kenscoff, Pic la Selle)
February remains cool and pleasantly dry at higher elevations; clear vistas from Pic la Selle are common and coffee farms around Jacmel and Kenscoff show active harvest activity. Nights are chilly and sometimes drop near 10°C, so bring warm layers for dawn. This is one of the most reliable months for mountain walking without mud, and local guesthouses are open for hikers.
