Greece Visas for Digital Nomads

Every way to stay in Greece as a remote worker: Schengen's 90 days and the Entry/Exit System, the digital nomad visa and residence permit, the 2026 consulate-only rule, the AFM and AMKA, and the golden visa.

Greece’s digital nomad visa gives non-EU remote workers a year, followed by a two-year residence permit. The rules changed in February 2026, when the option of applying from inside Greece was closed. This page covers the position as of October 2026. Check with your Greek consulate before applying, because document requirements vary.

Schengen: 90 Days in 180#

Greece is part of the Schengen Area. Citizens of the US, UK, Canada, Australia and many other countries can stay 90 days in any 180 across all Schengen countries. Since April 2026 the Entry/Exit System records entries and exits digitally, and ETIAS has no confirmed start date yet.

Golden Visa#

Greece’s golden visa gives five-year renewable residence for property investment, now from €400,000 to €800,000 in most popular areas. It doesn’t allow employment in Greece, and is aimed at investors rather than working nomads.

  • AFM: the Greek tax number, needed for leases, bank accounts, phone contracts and utilities.
