Government Museum, Chennai

The Government Museum in Chennai is a state-run museum in the Egmore district of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, established in 1851 and regarded as one of the oldest museums in India.

Collections focus on archaeology, numismatics, fine arts and natural history; key highlights include South Indian bronze sculpture, stone carvings and regional coinage as well as a dedicated Bronze Gallery containing notable Chola-period metalwork.
