How to Get to Golden Sands
Golden Sands (Zlatni Pyasatsi) is a coastal resort north of Varna and is best reached via Varna Airport (VAR) with a short onward shuttle, bus or taxi transfer. Varna city is the main rail and bus hub for the resort.
Varna Airport (VAR): Varna is the closest airport to Golden Sands (Zlatni Pyasatsi), about 20-25 km south. From Varna Airport you can take line 409 bus or shuttle services to Golden Sands (journey ~25-40 minutes) for around BGN 2-6; taxis take about 20-30 minutes and cost roughly BGN 25-40.
Burgas Airport (BOJ): Burgas is farther away (about 100-120 km) and used mainly by some international flights; travel time to Golden Sands is around 1.5-2 hours by road. Transfers and taxis are available but more expensive.
Train: Varna railway station connects to major Bulgarian cities; from Varna you continue to Golden Sands by public bus or taxi. Trains arrive into Varna central station (Varna) and then a short onward surface transfer is needed.
Bus: Regular tourist buses and municipal buses run between Varna and Golden Sands; the airport bus (line 409) also serves the resort. Bus rides from Varna centre are about 25-40 minutes and cost a few BGN; intercity buses from Sofia/other cities arrive into Varna where you transfer to local transport.
How to Get Around Golden Sands #
Golden Sands (Zlatni Pyasatsi) is a compact seaside resort that’s easy to walk around along the promenade and beach strip. Seasonal shuttle buses and taxis connect the resort with Varna and nearby towns during the summer. In high season expect heavy foot traffic and regular tourist transport; off-season some services reduce frequency. Bring local currency and be prepared for crowds on busy days.
