The Gerecse Mountains are a compact hilly range in Komárom-Esztergom County in northwestern Hungary, part of the Transdanubian Mountains. They are characterised by limestone and dolomite geology with rolling forested ridges and agricultural foothills.
Trail networks and country roads cross the range, which is used for hiking, cycling and local outdoor recreation; viewpoints on higher ridges provide views over the surrounding lowlands. The area includes mixed deciduous forests and karst features typical of the Transdanubian uplands.
The range lies north of the Danube and south of the Hungarian Plain, within driving distance of regional towns such as Tatabánya and Esztergom and accessible from the Budapest region to the east. It functions as a regional natural area rather than a large national park.
Geographically, the Gerecse sits in northwestern Hungary in Komárom-Esztergom County, forming part of the western highlands of the country.
