IAH consists of multiple terminals (A, B, C, D and E) with several satellite concourses. An airside automated people mover (Skylink) connects concourses inside security for quick transfers; there is also an underground/landside shuttle (Terminal Link) between terminals. Major carriers operate from dedicated terminals-check your ticket for the correct terminal and concourse prior to travel.

The airport is roughly 20-30 miles (30-50 km) from downtown Houston; travel time depends heavily on traffic (typically 25-45 minutes by car). Taxis and ride‑hailing services (Uber/Lyft) operate from the airport-expect fares to downtown generally in the $40-75 range depending on destination and traffic. There is no direct heavy‑rail link to downtown; local bus services and shuttle operators run between the airport and city locations. Car hire centers and long‑term parking are available on site.

IAH has extensive retail and dining options across terminals, full duty‑free shopping in international departures, numerous airline lounges (including major carrier clubs and pay‑per‑use lounges), and business facilities. Wi‑Fi is widely available across terminals. Charging stations, family rooms, prayer/meditation spaces and accessibility services are provided.
