Genting Highlands is a hill resort and entertainment complex in Pahang, Malaysia located on the Titiwangsa Range and known for its hotels, casinos and theme-park attractions. The development sits at roughly 1,800 metres elevation and is a prominent leisure destination for domestic and regional visitors.

The resort complex includes multiple hotels, shopping malls, entertainment venues and gaming facilities, all clustered on the hilltop. A cable car provides a direct visitor link from the lower valley up to the resort, giving scenic access while reducing road traffic.

Development of the highlands began in the 1960s under private initiative and has since expanded into a multi-component resort with year-round attractions, including indoor and outdoor entertainment zones. The site is particularly popular for its cooler temperatures and panoramic views compared with the lowlands.

Genting Highlands is located about an hour to two hours’ drive from Kuala Lumpur depending on traffic and is served by main roads and the resort cable car system.

  • Elevation/climate: Sits at around 1,800 metres above sea level, giving it a notably cooler climate than nearby lowland cities.
  • Origins: Developed from the mid-1960s and established by entrepreneur Lim Goh Tong; the resort is a major year-round leisure destination in Malaysia.
