How to Get to Gamsfeld
Reach the Gamsfeld area by regional roads from Salzburg city (roughly a one-hour drive depending on exact trailhead). Local buses serve nearby villages in summer; from the village trailheads it is a marked walk of between 1-3 hours to the summit depending on route chosen.
Tips for Visiting Gamsfeld
- If attempting the summit, start early to avoid afternoon thunderstorms common in summer months.
- Park at the nearest village trailhead (local signage) rather than trying to drive higher; alpine pasture roads can be narrow and misleading.
