How to Get to Funtana
Funtana is best accessed via Pula Airport and regional buses - Pula is the closest airport, with short onward bus or drive to the west Istrian coast. Trains are of limited use in this part of Istria.
Pula Airport (PUY): Pula is the nearest international airport for Funtana and the west Istria coast. A shuttle or public bus from Pula Airport to Pula city centre takes about 15-25 minutes and costs roughly 20-35 HRK; from Pula take a regional bus toward Poreč/Funtana (see train & bus card).
Rijeka Airport (RJK): Rijeka is another option, especially on some seasonal routes. Transfer to the Istrian coast requires a longer drive (about 60-90 minutes to Funtana) and usually a bus or rented car for the onward leg.
Train: Istria has limited rail coverage; Pula has a train station but most regional travel relies on buses. Trains are not usually the practical last-mile option for Funtana.
Bus: Buses are the primary public-transport link in Istria. Pula and Poreč bus stations run regular services to Funtana; a bus from Pula to Funtana/Poreč area typically takes 40-70 minutes with fares commonly around 15-40 HRK depending on route and season. Intercity operators include local carriers and seasonal international lines.
How to Get Around Funtana #
Funtana is very walkable; the small harbor, main strip and beaches are within easy walking distance. Many visitors rent bikes to explore the coastal cycle paths connecting to Poreč and neighboring villages. Regional buses run frequently to Poreč and other Istrian towns; taxis exist but are limited, so plan transfers in advance. Driving gives more flexibility, especially for reaching inland Istrian towns and vineyards.
