How to Get to Višnjan
Višnjan is most easily reached via Pula Airport with onward bus or car. Public buses link Pula and Poreč with Višnjan, but renting a car gives more freedom to explore the surrounding area.
Pula Airport (PUY): Pula is the nearest airport for Višnjan and the Poreč area. The airport-to-Pula city shuttle takes about 15-25 minutes and costs roughly 20-35 HRK; from Pula take a regional bus toward Poreč/Višnjan (see train & bus card).
Rijeka Airport (RJK): Rijeka is an alternative for some routes; onward transfer to Višnjan requires a longer drive (often 60+ minutes) and is typically done by bus or car rental.
Train: Rail options in Istria are limited and not usually the primary choice for reaching Višnjan; Pula and other coastal towns are better served by bus.
Bus: Buses run between Pula, Poreč and Višnjan/Paz family of local stops; a bus from Pula to Poreč/Višnjan area commonly takes 40-70 minutes, with fares typically in the 15-40 HRK range depending on distance and operator.
How to Get Around Višnjan #
Višnjan’s compact centre is very walkable; the observatory, restaurants and galleries are within easy walking distance. The area is popular with cyclists and there are quiet country roads and trails to explore by bike. Buses connect Višnjan with Poreč and other nearby towns; services are reasonable but less frequent than in bigger cities. Driving offers the most flexibility for exploring Istria.
