How to Get to Fresnillo#
Fresnillo (Zacatecas) is best reached by flying into Zacatecas International Airport (ZCL) or by road from larger Mexican hubs and then taking regional buses. Intercity bus services are the practical backbone for travel to and from Fresnillo.
General Leobardo C. Ruiz / Zacatecas International (ZCL): The airport at Zacatecas (La Calera) is the closest commercial airport for Fresnillo. From ZCL you can take a taxi or shared shuttle to Zacatecas city and then a bus to Fresnillo; total travel time is usually 1-2 hours (airport to Fresnillo) and taxi/shuttle fares run roughly MXN 400-800, with bus fares additional.
León/Guanajuato (BJX) or Mexico City (MEX): For international connections you may arrive at larger hubs and continue by bus or domestic flight to Zacatecas. Allow a full day for these connections when travelling to Fresnillo from distant airports.
Train: There is no regular national passenger rail service serving Fresnillo; Mexico’s long‑distance passenger rail network is very limited.
Bus: Intercity buses are the main option. Buses run between Zacatecas city and Fresnillo (1-1.5 hours) and from other regional hubs; expect fares around MXN 50-MXN 150 depending on operator and service class. Look for departures from Zacatecas central bus terminal to Fresnillo.

- Intercity bus (MXN 50-MXN 150) - Regular bus services connect Fresnillo with Zacatecas city and other regional centres. Buses are comfortable and frequent; travel time from Zacatecas is about 1-1.5 hours. Buy tickets at the terminal or from official company counters to avoid touts.
- Local buses & minibuses (MXN 5-MXN 30) - Local colectivos and minibuses cover shorter routes within Fresnillo and nearby towns. They are very affordable but can be crowded and run on informal schedules. Carry small bills and ask locally for the right stop names.
- Taxi / ride‑hail (MXN 80-MXN 600) - Taxis and app‑based options (where available) are the quickest way to reach accommodations from the bus station or for late‑night travel.
