Filicudi

Filicudi is one of the Aeolian Islands off the north coast of Sicily in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The island is small and sparsely populated, known for its volcanic geography, coastal cliffs and prehistoric archaeological sites.

Attractions include cliffside coastal scenery, clear sea for diving and snorkeling, small harbour settlements such as Filicudi Porto and archaeological remains at Capo Graziano dating to the Bronze Age. Visitor services are low-key and the island is primarily suited to day trips, short stays and outdoor activities.

Archaeological evidence at Capo Graziano demonstrates habitation in the middle and late 3rd millennium BCE, showing the island’s place in prehistoric Aeolian settlement networks. Later the island formed part of classical and medieval Mediterranean maritime routes but retained a small, rural population.

Filicudi lies west of the larger island of Salina and southwest of Lipari within the Aeolian archipelago, north of Sicily in the Tyrrhenian Sea and reached by ferry from Lipari and other Aeolian ports.
