Faro Point

Faro Point (Punta Faro / Capo Peloro) is the northeastern tip of Sicily near the city of Messina, marked by a prominent headland and a lighthouse. The headland sits at the entrance to the Strait of Messina where the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas meet.

The point offers coastal viewpoints over the busy Strait of Messina and a maritime landscape with ferry and ship traffic between Sicily and the Italian mainland. Visitors commonly go for shoreline viewpoints, the lighthouse, and to see the meeting of sea currents in the strait.

The headland has long served as a coastal landmark for shipping in the Strait of Messina; a lighthouse and associated navigational works have operated there to guide vessels. The area has also been a traditional fishing and coastal activity zone for local communities.

Situated on the Peloro peninsula at the northeastern extremity of Sicily, the point lies close to the city of Messina and faces the narrow strait separating Sicily from Calabria on the Italian mainland.
