Fanø is a Danish island in the South Denmark region, lying off the southwest coast of the Jutland peninsula in the Wadden Sea. The island is low-lying, sandy and known for long beaches, dunes and small historic villages.

Popular features include wide west-coast beaches used for walking, kite-surfing and birdwatching, and the well preserved villages of Nordby and Sønderho with traditional architecture. The island is accessible by regular ferry services from Esbjerg and is part of the broader Wadden Sea ecological zone.

Fanø is about 16 kilometres in length and covers roughly 50 to 60 square kilometres, with a small local population and an economy focused on tourism, fishing and small-scale services.

How to Get to Fanø #
