Fakhr al-Din Mosque

The Fakr-ad-Din (Fakhr al-Din) Mosque is a 13th-century mosque in the Hamar Weyne district of Mogadishu, Banaadir. It is dated to 1269 CE and is among the oldest surviving Islamic buildings in the city.

The mosque is notable for its coral-stone construction and traditional Somali-Islamic architectural features visible from the street. It remains an active neighborhood mosque rather than a large tourist site, so most observation is external or brief visits during non-prayer times.

The mosque was commissioned in the 13th century by a local ruler associated with the historical ruling elite of medieval Mogadishu and has served continuously as a place of Muslim worship.
