Estreito da Calheta sits on Madeira's south-west coast. The island's airport is Funchal (FNC); from there public buses and taxis serve coastal towns, but renting a car is often easier for flexibility and hillier inland roads.

By Air

Cristiano Ronaldo Madeira Airport (FNC): The island’s main airport, officially Funchal (FNC). From FNC to Estreito da Calheta the drive is about 35-50 minutes depending on traffic and exact route; taxis cost roughly €40-€60 and car hire desks are available at the terminal.

Porto Santo Airport (PXO): On Porto Santo island - only relevant if you arrive via a local flight or ferry transfer from Porto Santo to Madeira and then onward by ferry + road; this is not a direct route to Estreito da Calheta and takes significantly longer.

By Train & Bus

Train: Madeira has no rail network.
