About Escher in the Palace#
Escher in the Palace occupies a former palace on the Lange Voorhout in The Hague and is dedicated to the graphic work of M.C. Escher. The museum presents original lithographs, woodcuts and mezzotints alongside explanatory displays that explore Escher’s use of perspective, symmetry and tessellation.
Permanent galleries display a selection of Escher’s best-known prints together with changing exhibitions and interactive components that explain his visual techniques. The setting in palace rooms offers a compact route through his career and thematic groupings of prints.
The building itself is part of the visitor experience and sits in The Hague’s city centre, within walking distance of other cultural institutions and government buildings.
- Palace location: Housed in a former palace on the Lange Voorhout, the site places Escher’s graphic works in historic rooms rather than a modern white-box museum setting.
What to See#

- Temporary and educational galleries: Temporary exhibition spaces and educational displays provide context on Escher’s techniques and the mathematical ideas behind many of his works.
