Erottaja is a small central square and traffic roundabout in downtown Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland, serving as a major city junction. The name means “separator” in Finnish and the site functions as a recognizable urban landmark.
The square marks the southern end of Mannerheimintie and provides a direct pedestrian route toward the Esplanadi park and nearby shopping streets. It is a compact paved plaza rather than a large open park, and is commonly used as a route-head for walking and public transport connections.
The area developed as part of Helsinki’s 19th- and 20th-century urban growth and evolved into a principal traffic and meeting point in the city centre. Its role has remained primarily functional rather than monumental.
