How to Get to Ercsi
Ercsi is best reached via Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport (BUD) or by rail from Budapest. The town has a MÁV station with regular regional services; arriving at Budapest and continuing by train is the simplest option.
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD): The main international gateway for central Hungary. From BUD take the AirportBus 100E to central Budapest (Deák Ferenc tér) - ticket around 900 HUF, journey 35-45 minutes - then transfer to MÁV regional trains to Ercsi (see train card). A taxi from BUD to Ercsi takes about 45-60 minutes and typically costs roughly 8,000-12,000 HUF.
Sármellék / Hévíz-Balaton Airport (SOB): Seasonal/charter flights operate here in summer. From SOB the simplest option is a taxi to Balatonalmádi or Siófok then a regional train/bus; taxi 30-50 EUR and travel time to the Lake Balaton towns ~30-60 minutes (train/bus connections vary seasonally).
Train: Ercsi has a MÁV station on the Budapest-Pusztaszabolcs line (Ercsi vasútállomás). From Budapest (Déli or Kelenföld) regional trains reach Ercsi in about 35-55 minutes; typical second-class fares are modest (roughly 600-1,200 HUF one-way, depending on train and discounts).
Bus: Local Volánbusz services link Ercsi with nearby towns (Dunaújváros, Rácalmás) and bus stops close to the station. Bus journeys to/from Budapest require a change and take about 60-90 minutes; fares are generally in the low hundreds to a thousand HUF range.
