The falls form a scenic stretch of river with pools and cascades rather than a single vertical drop; they are surrounded by riverine vegetation and iconic baobab trees and are visited for scenery and wildlife. How to Get to Epupa Falls

Epupa Falls is in very remote north‑western Namibia on the Kunene River at the Angola border and is reached by unpaved roads; a high‑clearance 4×4 is recommended. The usual starting point is Opuwo (the regional service centre), from which travel is along rough gravel roads north toward the Kunene-expect several hours of driving on remote, often corrugated roads.

The falls themselves are accessed from the small Epupa settlement/camps near the river; there is basic local infrastructure at the falls but no public transit-arrange a 4×4 transfer or an organized tour from Opuwo or regional lodges.

Tips for Visiting Epupa Falls

  • Plan for either the high-flow season (late wet season) if you want the fullest waterfalls, or the dry season for easier road access-road conditions to Epupa are rough and often require a 4x4, so plan travel time accordingly.
