El Gouna is best from November to March when temperatures are mild and sea conditions favor diving and watersports. Summers are extremely hot; spring brings increasing heat but excellent underwater visibility.

How to Get to El Gouna#
El Gouna on Egypt’s Red Sea coast is best reached via Hurghada International Airport with a short road transfer. Many hotels organise pick-ups, making arrival straightforward even though there’s no rail service to the town.
Hurghada International Airport (HRG): Hurghada is the main arrival airport for visitors to El Gouna. From HRG the road transfer to El Gouna takes approximately 25-45 minutes; taxis and hotel transfers are common - expect fares roughly EGP 200-400 for a taxi and similar or higher for private transfers depending on season.
Cairo International Airport (CAI): Some travellers fly into Cairo and travel overland (long drive or domestic flight to Hurghada) to reach El Gouna; flying to HRG for a short onward road transfer is generally simpler.
Bus / Shuttle: Many hotels and tour operators run shared shuttles from Hurghada Airport and Hurghada city to El Gouna. Private shuttles and minibuses operate on request; fares depend on operator and group size.
Train: There is no direct train service to El Gouna. Overland travel is by car, taxi or bus from Hurghada and neighbouring cities.
How to Get Around El Gouna#
Hotel transfers or taxis from Hurghada Airport are the simplest way in; once in El Gouna, walking, cycling and electric buggies are the most convenient ways to get around the resort-style town.
- Hotel transfer / private taxi (EGP 200-500) - Most hotels offer private transfers from HRG; these are the most convenient and reliable option, especially for late arrivals. Taxis are readily available at the airport but confirm a fixed fare in advance.
- Shared shuttle / minibus (EGP 100-300) - Shared shuttles arranged by hotels or tour operators are economical for single travellers or small groups; schedules may be tied to flight arrival times and can require booking in advance.
- Local taxi (EGP 30-150) - Taxis within El Gouna and to nearby Hurghada are common. Within El Gouna, many streets are private-access and hotels arrange transport; official taxis are preferable for trips outside the resort.
- Bicycle / electric buggy (EGP 50-300/day) - El Gouna is designed as a resort town with extensive walkways and wide bike/pedestrian paths; renting a bike or electric buggy is popular for short local trips and island hopping within the resort.
- Walking - El Gouna’s hotels, restaurants and lagoons are compact and extremely walkable; many visitors prefer to walk between nearby attractions and use bikes or buggies for slightly longer distances.
