Eggenberg Palace (Schloss Eggenberg) is a 17th-century Baroque palace on the western edge of Graz, Austria. The palace is noted for its richly decorated state rooms and formal Baroque gardens and is included in the city’s UNESCO World Heritage designation.
Visitors see a series of ceremonial interiors with allegorical and cosmological decoration, an extensive garden laid out in Baroque fashion and museum displays in the palace galleries. The ensemble is one of Graz’s principal historic monuments and hosts rotating exhibitions in the Alte Galerie.
The palace was commissioned by the Eggenberg family in the early 17th century and built as a representational residence with gardens and outbuildings; its appearance today reflects Baroque design and later conservation work.
Eggenberg stands on the western side of Graz, a short drive or bus ride from the Old Town and the city centre.
