Edéa Travel Guide
City City in Cameroon, known for its port
Straddling the Sanaga, Edéa is a river town framed by plantations and a hydroelectric plant; travelers pass through for riverboat rides, market fish, nearby mangrove estuaries and the short drive between Douala and inland towns.
Why Visit Edéa? #
Perched on the Sanaga River, Edéa draws attention for river voyages, rainforest access and glimpses of local Bassa culture. The riverfront markets and ferries reveal everyday life along Cameroon’s main waterway, while nearby rainforest trails and plantation landscapes suit birdwatchers and nature-minded travelers. Edéa’s regional cuisine - think ndolé, grilled fish and palm-oil stews - and traditional Bassa music and craft markets round out an authentic local experience.
