East River Park is a linear public park along Manhattan’s East River waterfront on the Lower East Side of New York City. It serves as riverside open space for nearby residential neighbourhoods.
The park was developed in the 20th century as part of Manhattan’s riverfront open‑space network and has been modified over time to respond to changing urban needs and flood risks. In recent years it has been the subject of planned redesign and resilience improvements aimed at reducing flood vulnerability.
The park runs along the East River on Manhattan’s east side, adjacent to the FDR Drive and serving the Lower East Side and nearby waterfront neighbourhoods.
